preacher-fan-screening-minneapolisAMC announced today via their twitter feed that Minneapolis, Minnesota will host the first Preacher fan screening in the Preacher Pop-Up Screenings contest held on Twitter and Instagram. The screening will take place on April 30th. Tickets are free and are available now on PreacherFanScreenings.com.

Whether or not there are any left, I’m not so sure. The news broke earlier today and we all know how fast word travels these days. Chances are pretty good they have all been snapped up already, it  certainly wont take long. But still, if you live in the area, log onto the ticketing site and give it a try!

As far as I can tell, AMC hasn’t eluded to which social media entries lead them to select Minneapolis as the first screening winner. This is something I’ve been trying to understand. Between Twitter and Instagram I found only two references to either “Minnesota” or “Minneapolis” pertaining to the contest. That’s them below…

Unless I’ve somehow missed a crazy good entry for the North Start State, my understanding of the contest’s winning criteria has been incorrect from the start. Nothing against these two tweets (one of which I “liked”, the other not so much), but I was under the impression that the most creative entries would be considered above all others. I am thinking now that this is not the case, unless, as previously mentioned, I am missing an amazing Minnesota based tweet. Someone please direct to it if such an entry exists.

This is the part in the post where I had planned to pump up our readership, to try and get you all to get the creative juices flowing and submit your amazing entries, but I’m not going to do that because to be totally honest, I’m not sure if it will make a difference. That’s not me complaining or anything, that’s just the way I see it given today’s announcement.

The announcement for the city that will host the second Pop-Up screening is a week today on May 1st. Today’s announcement took place at about 10 am eastern time, so it might be a good idea to be online around then next Sunday, that way if they announce a city close to you as the winner, you will be in the right place at the right time to pounce on those free tickets. Score!
